If someone dies and his body isn’t buried that means he can’t rest in peace. His soul will remain on Earth and get more furious. Human have emotion, ghosts have too. RIP is just an expression wishing the dearly departed an unperturbed existence in the afterlife. For Buddhists death is not the end of life, so it is not something to be feared. Within the Buddhist community, death has important religious meaning.
